China reports 1.9% gain in Sep inflation

(MENAFN) China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) stated that the country's Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 1.9 percent last month on annual basis, reported Xinhua News.

The agency said that the increase in the CPI, a main measure of inflation, was driven by higher food prices, which posted a gain of 2.5 percent from a year ago.

On a monthly basis, inflation went up by 0.3 percent from August.

In the January-September period, China's inflation expanded 2.8 percent on annual basis, also going down from the 3.3-percent growth posted in the first 6 months of the year.

It is worth noting that in August, China's inflation rose 2 percent.
