A summer cold front arrives from the northwest this afternoon. It?ll bring us some decent storm chances later today, even a slight risk of severe weather. By tomorrow we?ll enjoy cooler weather (and even slightly lower humidity).
This morning the southern edge of a complex of storms over Oklahoma is producing storms and rain. These storms threaten Montague and Cooke Counties; rain will be just to the south of there and reach into Decatur and Denton. This precipitaiton will move to east as the morning goes on. Mostly cloudy skies will be over all of the north Texas.
A cold front moves into our northwest corner by late morning. This front will start to fire up thunderstorms as it moves over the DFW by early afternoon.
Strong storms will form along the line; the risk will be damaging winds and large hail. The severe threat is from the metroplex to the east. The highest risk will be from Greenville down to Palestine.
We?ll have some clouds and passing showers on the other side of the front. By mid-evening the skies should start to clear some. A northwest wind will start to finally drop the humidity. This sets up some great weather for the Saturday.
We are in the last days of July heading toward August. This is traditional the heart of the summer heat for north Texas. A high pressure ridge builds in by Tuesday. By Thursday we?ll start another run of 100? weather that will start the new month.
